With the hamatan season approaching, more and more people become susceptible to infections of the bronchi and lungs. People suffering from Asthma tend to have an increase in attacks during this time. Here are 5 steps to help you prepare for an asthma attack.
- Keep fear away: Asthma patients dread an attack. Unfortunately that fear could sometimes lead to panic and provoke an attack. - Sit upright, relax and try to take slow, steady breaths. Bending over doesn’t allow the lungs to unfold and makes it harder to breathe.
- Seek Help: If symptoms don’t improve 10 minutes after taking your rescue medication, seek professional help by calling emergency services or your doctor. While waiting for help, take two puffs of your reliever inhaler (one puff at a time) every two minutes. You can take up to 10 puffs.
Write down this plan and share it with your family, friends or a trusted neighbor, because these are the people who will attend to you during an attack. Parents should inform the kid’s teachers.
